Ten Things You Should Know About
Frances Hoelsema
I cannot listen to music while writing. I would get easily distracted!
2. At what moment did you feel like you could say, “NOW, I'm an author?”
When I was finally selling novels to others outside of my circle. When someone I didn’t know in any way, shape or form read and reviewed my book, that was when I felt it was real. Even more so when someone from another country bought it! That’s just wow!
3. What is one of your favorite/go-to writing resources?
I use Google ALL….THE….TIME! I use it for vocabulary, word usage, writing structure, ideas, anything and everything.
4. Have you ever looked yourself up on Google? If so, did you find anything surprising?
Yes, I have. Nothing out of the ordinary came up, though!
5. Do you write using a keyboard, pen and paper, or both?
I write on my laptop or desktop computer.
6. What project are you working on now?
I am currently working on my third novel, which is the third (and last) one in my Neighbors series. It will also be a contemporary romance. It should be ready to be released in December!
7. What book are you currently reading?
I am currently reading a book by Laekan Zea Kemp called The Girl In Between. It’s a VERY interesting novel. I took a chance on it because it’s a genre I’m not used to reading, but I am so glad I found it! (Although I’m only half way through so that could possibly change, lol). *Please note this novel isn’t “clean” due to language.
8. Do you write/read every single day?
I read at least one chapter a night before I go to bed. I write just weekdays, and that’s only when I’m actually working on a novel. Right now I’m working on editing/formatting so I’m not actually writing.
9. What is one of your favorite beverages/snacks while writing?
Normally I drink just water, but on the rare occasion that I write on a weekend morning, my husband will make me some awesome French vanilla cappuccino. I love sipping on that as I type. And I don’t think I’ve actually had any snacks while writing. I don’t want to mess my keyboard up.
10. Describe your writing space as it is right now. What would be your ideal writing space (if it's different from this)?
I think that I have a pretty awesome workspace. I sit in a reclining chair with a warm blanket on my lap. On top is my laptop and to the one side is normally one of my cats. That is life right there!
